Old Italy - Sardinia Oil on canvas 24 x 32 inches (1971) I was in Sardinia for Christmas. These horse-drawn carts came several times a day. In the morning they came with empty load. In the evening they had some wood in the back and came from left to right. This one was coming home in the evening. It was cold and the sky was heavy. I suddenly wanted to paint to render one of these carts. I painted for 100 hours almost non-stop. I knew little about color, brush strokes or composition.
